Water Main Break
Liebe Familien,
aufgrund einer Unterbrechung einer Hauptwasserversorgungsroute wird die Deutsche Internationale Schule Washington D.C. auf unabsehbare Zeit ohne Wasser sein. Wir haben daher beschlossen, den Unterricht fr眉hzeitig zu beenden und fordern Sie auf, Ihre Kinder ab 12:15 Uhr abzuholen, wenn sie nicht mit unseren Bussen fahren.
Die Busse verlassen die Schule um 12:15 Uhr. Falls Ihre Kinder nicht mit dem Bus fahren sollen, dann melden Sie sich sofort unter 301.767.3801. Ihr Kind wird dann in der Schule betreut, bis Sie sie abholen.
Wenn ein Elternteil mehr als ein Kind abholt, halten Sie bitte Ihren Ausweis sowie eine SMS oder E-Mail der Eltern der abzuholenden Kinder bereit.
Bitte holen Sie Ihre Kinder am Haupteingang des Hauptgeb盲udes ab. Sch眉lerinnen und Sch眉ler, die in der Schule warten m眉ssen, werden von uns beaufsichtigt und betreut, bis Sie kommen, um sie abzuholen. Diese Entscheidung, den Unterricht zu beenden, richtet sich nach den f眉r 枚rtliche Schulen erlassenen Gesundheitsvorschriften.

Dear Families,
Due to a water main break the 海角原创 will be without water for the foreseeable future. We have decided to end classes early and request that you pick up your children starting 12:15 pm, if they are not bus riders.
The buses leave the school at 12:15 pm. If you don鈥檛 want your bus rider to take the bus today, report them immediately to 301.767.3800. Your child will then be looked after at school until you pick them up.
If one parent picks up more than one child, please be prepared to show your ID and a text message or email from the parents of the children being picked up.
Please pick up your children at the main entrance of the main building. Students who have to wait at school we will supervised and cared for until you come to pick them up. This school closing decision is congruent with health ordinances established for local schools.
We regret the circumstance and please stay tuned for further messages.
Admission of Visiting Students
At GISW, we warmly welcome students for short-term stays鈥攚hether to get to know our school or to reconnect with former classmates after moving away. To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone, please APPLY EARLY and carefully review the following rules and regulations.
- Advanced Registration Required: Please apply for your child at least two weeks in advance, or preferably earlier, before their planned start date at our school. To apply, please send an email to Ms. Wagner at mail@giswashington.org.
- After consulting with the homeroom teacher, the Administration will give permission to visit for no more than ten consecutive days.
- A completed Emergency Form must be submitted prior to receiving permission to visit our school. The information on the form will be checked by our health room staff before permission can be given. For this we need ample time, especially if medical conditions are present.
- Once approved, the visiting students fee is $50 per day.
- Using a school bus requires separate permission and a usage fee will be applied for each trip.
- The visiting student fee, the bus usage fee and if interested, the lunch fee will be combined into a total amount. These fees need to be paid in cash or with a US check on the first day before classes begin.
- We cannot allow visiting students to participate in school outings or class trips since they are not covered under the school鈥檚 insurance policies.
- Visiting students are not permitted to participate in the afternoon program (AGs) or in the Extended Care program.
- Visiting students will not receive a certificate of attendance for their visit to GISW.
- Unused visitor days will not be reimbursed.
